Gabrielle Sanlin, 4, steps out from under the protection of a pavilion and into the rain at the start of Manalapan Under the Stars and Stripes. Late-afternoon rains forced the cancellation of the community celebration.
The site of the historic Battle of Monmouth in 1778, Manalapan is located on the western edge of Monmouth County. Today the battlefield serves as a state park and hosts historical re-enactments throughout the year.
Situated conveniently near New York, Philadelphia and the Shore, Manalapan is also the home of the well-known Englishtown Auction Sales and the Monmouth County Library Headquarters, a first-class facility that offers a wealth of educational resources and cultural activities.
The township is also known for its sprawling recreation complex, its top-rated schools and growing community theater activities. The annual Manalapan Day offers a variety of activities for all ages.
